South Beach Style

Shop this look: Colorful maxi dress (old, shop similar ones below) // Kate Spade earrings //
Guess espadrille wedges (similar) // Louis Vuitton bag // Turquoise bracelets (bought on the beach, similar here)

I just back from a much-needed vacation in South Beach for spring break! Miami is such a vibrant place with music, culture and food so I thought it was the perfect time to break out this bold maxi dress that has been in the back of my closet for a while. Usually I stick to blue, white and neutral colors in my wardrobe so this look was different for me but I loved it! I went with more understated accessories like a brown bag and brown wedges so the dress could really stand out. Here are some other fun patterned maxis available this season if you want to try my look:

Friday Faves: Spring Break Edition

For exploring:

Shop: 1. Gucci tee (more affordable versions here) // 2. Statement drop earrings // 3. Forever 21 jeans // 4. Rebecca Minkoff backpack // 5. Sonix iPhone case // 6. Marc Fisher wedges

This Friday Faves is dedicated to spring break! Mine is this week and I'm so excited to be going to Miami on Monday. I'd wear this outfit to the airport or when walking around the city. It's casual and cool with a graphic tee and backpack, but still polished with espadrille wedges and statement earrings.

For the beach:

Shop: 1. Pacsun bikini (amazing price) // 2. H&M dress // 3. Straw tote (cheaper version here) //
4. Rayban sunglasses // 5. Sam Edelman sandals // 6. Kendra Scott earrings

I like to keep things simple when going to the pool or beach. It's still possible to be fashionable though, with trendy sandals (I'm loving all the pom-poms this season!) and an off-shoulder cover-up.

For a night out:

Shop: 1. Free People dress // 2. Castaner wedges // 3. Michael Kors gold hoops //
 4. Francesca's clutch // 5. Karen London lariat necklace //

I am OBSESSED with this dress. It's so fun to twirl around in and has a beautiful exposed back. I bought it in a dark raspberry color last summer and will definitely wear it out in Miami. Since the dress makes such a statement on its own, I'll opt for delicate accessories. This navy clutch from Francesca's is definitely on my wishlist too.

Valentine's Day Date Night

Shop this look: H&M off-shoulder top // Liverpool jeans // Tom's wedge booties // Silver hoops David Yurman bracelet // Kate Spade watch // Pandora ring // Lancome pink lipstick

Lately I've been loving shades of light pink — and February is the perfect time to wear them! This outfit has just subtle hints of pink (instead of looking like Valentine Day threw up on me...lol), which is why I think it's perfect for date night. And how cute is the ruffled off-shoulder!! I paired the top with a hot pink lip and black jeans but I think it would also look cute with light pink lips, a black leather skirt and over-the-knee boots.

What are you wearing on V-day?

February Faves

Shop: 1. Endless Rose off-shoulder sweater // 2. Sonia iPhone case // 3. H&M floral skirt
4. Jo Malone perfume // 5. Kate Spade bag // 6. H&M silky tank // 7. H&M lip tee
8. Jeffrey Campbell lace-up booties // 9. Marc Jacobs wallet

For me, February and Valentine's Day go hand and hand. As soon as the month begins, I want to break out all of my shades of pink and red — and eat all of the candy hearts and chocolates in sight. So naturally, my wishlist this month is filled with romantic details like ruffles, silk and floral appliques, which are perfect for any date night. I also had to throw in a few cheesy but cute items like this lip shirt and heart-covered phone case and wallet that are sure to brighten your day during this dreary weather. Be your own valentine this year and treat yourself to one of these goodies!

It was 60 degrees on Saturday in Illinois, meaning I didn't have to wear a coat in January! It was such a great sneak peek of spring, but of course, it's already back to winter weather. That's why I'm sharing this look of how I make bulky layers a bit more stylish.  I love a good blanket scarf because it can keep you warm with a winter coat, but then double as a classy cape when inside. I especially love this scarf, which has built in arm holes. I bought it from a small boutique back home but I linked two similar styles above. I also have to rave about these suede skinny jeans! They are SO soft on the inside and outside, and actually keep my legs warm unlike my regular jeans. I love the quality of Joe's Jeans, but I also found a cheaper pair here.

New Year in Neutrals

Shop this look: Madewell sweater dress // Franco Sarto over-the-knee boots //
Gray bag (from Italy, similar here and here)

A new year means a clean slate, and this outlook is definitely reflected in my wardrobe lately. Jewel tones, patterns and plaids are just less appealing this time of year. Instead, I am loving shades of white, cream, gray, beige and black. This look is simple but still stylish, with neutral tones and the lace-up and over-the-knee trends. It is a perfect look for a chilly night out with the girls. Here's more neutral #ootd inspiration from my Instagram:

Shop this look: J. Crew sweater (similar here and here) // Zara gray jeans (similar) //
Franco Sarto lace-up booties // Kendra Scott earrings

Shop this look: TJ Maxx turtleneck (similar) // Zara jeans // Kenneth Cole tan sneakers //
David Yurman pearl bracelet // Kate Spade watch // Pandora ring

Goals for a Successful 2017

2016 will be pretty hard to beat. At this time last year, I was studying abroad in Barcelona and traveling around Europe on the weekends. Then, I spent my dream summer interning in New York. It’s pretty scary to think I don’t know what will happen this year, but that is also exciting. I’ve come up with some goals that I hope will help me succeed wherever this year takes me.

1. Drink more water

Okay, this is at the top of my list of goals every year, and for good reason. It is a running joke with my family that if we were stranded in a desert, I would survive the longest because I wouldn’t get thirsty. While this is funny, I know dehydration can lead to illness, exhaustion and more, so I am hoping to fix my bad habits. I’m not expecting to drink the recommended eight cups of water a day, but I think four bottles of water a day will be a major improvement.

2. Be a better friend

College can be so hectic sometimes that I am not always the best at staying in touch with all of the people in my life. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, especially as graduation gets closer, because soon I could be working at a job that's far away from my friends and family at home and school. This doesn’t mean we can’t stay in touch. Even if it is just sending a quick “How are you?” text or tagging someone in a goofy dog video on Instagram, I want to do what I can to be more mindful of my friends and be a supportive presence in their lives.

3. Take time to unwind

I’m the type of person who has a hard time saying “no” to taking on more tasks and sets extremely high expectations for myself. Even though this has helped me get good grades and internships, sometimes it takes its toll. This year, I want to have some more “me time” and do more things for fun — like going out with friends, binge-watching a Netflix show or playing tennis. I’m also hoping I can sneak a vacation somewhere into my first year as a post-grad.

What are your goals for 2017?
