February Faves

Shop: 1. Endless Rose off-shoulder sweater // 2. Sonia iPhone case // 3. H&M floral skirt
4. Jo Malone perfume // 5. Kate Spade bag // 6. H&M silky tank // 7. H&M lip tee
8. Jeffrey Campbell lace-up booties // 9. Marc Jacobs wallet

For me, February and Valentine's Day go hand and hand. As soon as the month begins, I want to break out all of my shades of pink and red — and eat all of the candy hearts and chocolates in sight. So naturally, my wishlist this month is filled with romantic details like ruffles, silk and floral appliques, which are perfect for any date night. I also had to throw in a few cheesy but cute items like this lip shirt and heart-covered phone case and wallet that are sure to brighten your day during this dreary weather. Be your own valentine this year and treat yourself to one of these goodies!

It was 60 degrees on Saturday in Illinois, meaning I didn't have to wear a coat in January! It was such a great sneak peek of spring, but of course, it's already back to winter weather. That's why I'm sharing this look of how I make bulky layers a bit more stylish.  I love a good blanket scarf because it can keep you warm with a winter coat, but then double as a classy cape when inside. I especially love this scarf, which has built in arm holes. I bought it from a small boutique back home but I linked two similar styles above. I also have to rave about these suede skinny jeans! They are SO soft on the inside and outside, and actually keep my legs warm unlike my regular jeans. I love the quality of Joe's Jeans, but I also found a cheaper pair here.

New Year in Neutrals

Shop this look: Madewell sweater dress // Franco Sarto over-the-knee boots //
Gray bag (from Italy, similar here and here)

A new year means a clean slate, and this outlook is definitely reflected in my wardrobe lately. Jewel tones, patterns and plaids are just less appealing this time of year. Instead, I am loving shades of white, cream, gray, beige and black. This look is simple but still stylish, with neutral tones and the lace-up and over-the-knee trends. It is a perfect look for a chilly night out with the girls. Here's more neutral #ootd inspiration from my Instagram:

Shop this look: J. Crew sweater (similar here and here) // Zara gray jeans (similar) //

Shop this look: TJ Maxx turtleneck (similar) // Zara jeans // Kenneth Cole tan sneakers //
David Yurman pearl bracelet // Kate Spade watch // Pandora ring

Goals for a Successful 2017

2016 will be pretty hard to beat. At this time last year, I was studying abroad in Barcelona and traveling around Europe on the weekends. Then, I spent my dream summer interning in New York. It’s pretty scary to think I don’t know what will happen this year, but that is also exciting. I’ve come up with some goals that I hope will help me succeed wherever this year takes me.

1. Drink more water

Okay, this is at the top of my list of goals every year, and for good reason. It is a running joke with my family that if we were stranded in a desert, I would survive the longest because I wouldn’t get thirsty. While this is funny, I know dehydration can lead to illness, exhaustion and more, so I am hoping to fix my bad habits. I’m not expecting to drink the recommended eight cups of water a day, but I think four bottles of water a day will be a major improvement.

2. Be a better friend

College can be so hectic sometimes that I am not always the best at staying in touch with all of the people in my life. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, especially as graduation gets closer, because soon I could be working at a job that's far away from my friends and family at home and school. This doesn’t mean we can’t stay in touch. Even if it is just sending a quick “How are you?” text or tagging someone in a goofy dog video on Instagram, I want to do what I can to be more mindful of my friends and be a supportive presence in their lives.

3. Take time to unwind

I’m the type of person who has a hard time saying “no” to taking on more tasks and sets extremely high expectations for myself. Even though this has helped me get good grades and internships, sometimes it takes its toll. This year, I want to have some more “me time” and do more things for fun — like going out with friends, binge-watching a Netflix show or playing tennis. I’m also hoping I can sneak a vacation somewhere into my first year as a post-grad.

What are your goals for 2017?

Have Yourself a Very Plaid Christmas

Shop this look: J. Crew Factory turtleneck // Plaid scarf (similar) // Leather skirt (similar) //
HUE black tights // Tom's wedge booties // Kate Spade watch

During the holidays, I can never wear enough plaid. It is a classic and festive print that never goes out of style, and never fails to get me into the spirit. If you are unsure how you feel about plaid (or don't like to go as overboard as me when it comes to the holidays), try this look. A plaid scarf is a subtle way to rock the trend and it pops nicely against a simple gray turtleneck, black leather skirt and booties.

Stay tuned for more holiday looks!

Outfits for Every Thanksgiving Celebration

1. With the family

Shop this look: H&M sweater // H&M denim skirt // Dolce Vita boots
Tory Burch fringe bag // J. Crew Factory earrings // Topshop scarf

A Thanksgiving at home with the family should be all about comfort — with your clothes and food. A chunky sweater and denim mini skirt are casual (and are not too tight so you can eat as much as you want). Glitzy earrings and a patterned scarf make the look more polished.

2. Friendsgiving

Shop this look: H&M dress // Sam Edelman booties // Rebecca Minkoff bag
Kendra Scott bracelet // David Yurman bracelet // Hinge hat

Friendsgiving is one of my favorite traditions because I get reunite with some of my best friends after being away at college. We catch up, cook and, of course, take lots of photos, so it's fun to dress up a bit for the occasion. This lace dress has a classic neckline so I gave it some edge with lace-up booties — I call it pilgrim chic.

3. Restaurant Thanksgiving

Shop this look: H&M dress // Bauble Bar earrings // Topshop skinny scarf
Valentino studded flats // Chloe bag // Tom Ford nail polish

I've never been to Thanksgiving at a restaurant, but if I did, I think it would be fun to experiment with fall colors and other trends. After all, if the look is a flop, at least there will not be many people out and about to see! This mustard velvet dress is very unique and I think shades of blue on a skinny scarf (worn around the neck or as a headband) and studded flats would complement it well.

What are you wearing for Thanksgiving?
